Are you ready to improve the appearance of your teeth? Misaligned teeth are a common issue, and more adults are considering orthodontics to straighten their teeth.

Adult orthodontic options are improving. As a dentist, Dr. Aldrich is aware of how important straight teeth are to a healthy smile. As a professional adult like you, he is aware of how important appearance and image can be. At Waterloo Dental Associates, we recognize that most adults don’t want to wear the brackets and wires of traditional braces.

We’re excited to offer Invisalign, an innovative new orthodontic option that allows you to straighten your teeth – without everyone noticing.

What Is Invisalign?

Unlike braces, which use brackets and wires to guide your teeth into proper alignment, Invisalign uses practically invisible translucent aligners worn over the teeth to gently move your teeth and straighten your smile.

Invisalign is effective for mild to moderate misalignments, and its treatment time is comparable to that of traditional braces. But Invisalign allows you to look great while you straighten your teeth, not just after!

Why Should I Straighten My Teeth?

We recognize that many people embrace their imperfections, like crooked or gapped teeth, and we completely understand this. At Waterloo Dental Associates, we believe in education and information, and we want to make sure you are aware of the effect that crowded, overlapping, or widely spaced teeth could have so that you can make an informed decision regarding your dental health.

When your teeth are tightly crowded or overlapping, it can be difficult to brush and floss them properly. Unfortunately, bacteria can still get into these tight spaces and set you up for decay and periodontal disease. Wide gaps can trap food between your teeth, which also increases the risk of cavities and gum disease and can cause bad breath.

Straightening your bite also improves the way that your bite fits together, which is known as your occlusion. When your occlusion is off, you may clench or grind your teeth or develop problems with your jaw joint.

Invisalign vs. Braces

Other than the obvious aesthetic advantage, our patients prefer Invisalign over braces for several reasons, including:

  • Invisalign aligners are removable, which makes brushing and flossing easier.
  • You remove your aligners to eat, so you don’t have to deal with food restrictions.
  • If you have a special occasion and need some extra confidence, you can remove your aligners. Just be sure to wear them for at least 22 hours a day so you can stay on track with your treatment.
  • You don’t have to keep coming back to the office for “tightening.”
  • You’ll be given your supply of aligners and instructed as to when they should be switched out.

So is Invisalign for you? Call Waterloo Dental Associates to schedule a consultation with Dr. Aldrich so he can examine your teeth and discuss your goals. If Invisalign is the right choice, we can take the images necessary to create your treatment plan and your aligners and get the process started.
