Veneers

There’s no question that a healthy smile is important. But at Waterloo Dental Associates, we recognize that it’s important for your smile to be attractive, too. Your smile is one of the first things that people notice about you, and it’s a vital part of every first impression you make.

So what kind of first impression is your smile making? Is there anything you would like to change about it?

Dentistry combines science, medicine, and artistry to transform smiles, and Dr. Aldrich enjoys working with patients to improve the appearance of their smiles. If you’d like to make changes to your smile, call our office to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation and find out if veneers could be exactly what you’re looking for.

What Are Veneers?

We craft veneers out of dental porcelain. These thin shells look incredibly natural, and people will never realize that you have veneers – they’ll only notice your attractive smile.

Veneers are an ideal solution for a number of common cosmetic dental issues. They can be used to conceal discolorations, chips, and cracks or reshape teeth that are small or worn. We can also use veneers to widen teeth to fill in gaps. You have the option of using a single veneer on one tooth that is marring your smile, or you can choose to have a complete smile makeover.

How Do You Get Veneers?

The first step is calling Waterloo Dental Associates and scheduling a cosmetic dentistry consultation with Dr. Christopher Aldrich. Dr. Aldrich will meet with you and discuss your concerns and your goals to gain a better understanding of the changes you’d like to make. He’ll also perform an examination to make sure that veneers are the right option for you.

Veneers are a good choice for anyone who has healthy teeth and gums. If you have any decay or gum disease, we will want to treat those conditions before we place veneers.

Once you are ready for veneers, we’ll prep your teeth, and then take impressions and imaging to send to the dental lab we trust with our restorations, along with Dr. Aldrich’s specific instructions. Dr. Aldrich will place temporary veneers to protect your teeth until your permanent veneers are ready.

We’ll call you back to our office when your veneers come back from the lab. Before bonding the veneers to your teeth, Dr. Aldrich will check each veneer carefully for the correct fit and appearance. Once both you and Dr. Aldrich are satisfied, each veneer will be affixed to your teeth.

Caring for Veneers

With proper care, your veneers will last for many years. You’ll need to brush and floss your veneers just like you would your regular teeth (although you should use a soft-bristled brush and non-abrasive toothpaste to prevent scratches to the finish on your veneers).

Regular cleanings and exams are a must to keep your veneers looking their best and make sure that they stay in great shape.
