Pediatric Dentistry

At Waterloo Dental Associates, we’re committed to helping simplify your dental care. One of the ways we do this is by offering an incredible range of services, including expanded services, so that you can get all your care from the dentist you know and trust.

Another way we do this is by providing a welcoming, family-friendly office for everyone, regardless of age!

We see plenty of kids here at Waterloo Dental Associates, and we love treating them! Kids are naturally curious, and it’s such a great feeling to introduce them to good health habits that we know will stick with them as they grow up. Plus, when your entire family is seen at our office, scheduling routine dental visits becomes a breeze!

Pediatric Dentistry at Waterloo Dental Associates

There’s no question that kids have unique needs when it comes to practically every aspect of their health care. Dr. Aldrich recognizes that kids are not just “little adults.” The early years are marked by rapid growth and development, and it’s crucial to keep an eye on this to make sure that everything is coming in just the way it should. With regular childhood dental visits, we can head off any potential problems early on, when fixes are much simpler than they would be in later years.

Our Waterloo dental office agrees with the recommendation of the American Dental Association that kids should be seen once the first tooth appears or by the child’s first birthday, whichever occurs first. While your child won’t be old enough to really remember this visit, it sets the stage for visits to come and begins to introduce the dentist’s office as a safe and fun place to be.

Many adults have an unexplainable fear of the dentist. We’d like to head that off early. No more kids should have to grow up afraid of a health care practitioner who is dedicated to helping them have an attractive and healthy smile!

Children’s Dentistry at All Stages

We like to make dental care fun and comfortable – for every age! In the early years, your child will get to go for a ride in the dental chair, and we’ll work with their natural curiosity, introducing dental instruments and explaining what we do with them.

As your child gets older, we’ll introduce the “tell-show-do” philosophy, which helps kids gain confidence and understanding (and often sets parents at ease, as well!). Preventive treatments like cleanings, fluoride, and sealants help your kids’ teeth stay healthy and help your child dodge dental issues like cavities.

We’re happy to answer any questions you have about your child’s dental development. From discussions about teething to thumb-sucking, pacifier use, braces, and nutrition, we’re here to help and be a source of information and education. You’re also welcome to contact us in between appointments if a problem arises or a question comes to mind.

We recognize that dental emergencies sometimes happen. If your child falls down and injures their teeth (or forgets to use their glove when catching a fly ball), give us a call right away. We’ll get your child in as soon as possible so that we can assess the damage, relieve your child’s discomfort, and plan treatment. We’ll help to reassure your child and make sure that they feel comfortable and safe.
